Composer Opportunities, Awards, & Commissions

The Canadian Music Centre (CMC) invites Canadian composers to apply for a range of opportunities listed under its Composer Opportunities, Awards, & Commissions page. The primary award highlighted is a $500 CAD commission for the creation of a 5–7 minute composition, to be performed by members of the Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble. In addition, the page announces the return of Composer INC, a tuition‑free five‑month creative incubator exclusively for Canadian female‑identifying composers, run in partnership with the Allegra Chamber Orchestra. Applications are accepted until 1 October 2026. No application fee is required. Selected composers receive the commission fee, mentorship, and a performance opportunity. The call is open to Canadian composers; the Composer INC incubator is limited to Canadian female‑identifying composers residing in Canada. This opportunity is managed by the Canadian Music Centre, a national organization supporting Canadian contemporary music.
