About This Opportunity
The City of Ventura’s Community Grants Program provides $340,000 in municipal funding across four categories. Category 3 – Individual Artist Projects – supports active artists or creative practitioners residing in or creating work in Ventura. Applicants may request between $3,000 and $5,000 to develop arts or cultural projects that serve Ventura residents. The program runs on a one‑year cycle; all funded activities must occur after the grant agreement is executed and be completed by December 31 2027. Applications open on 5 October 2026, with a final submission deadline of 30 October 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Applicants must request a secure online portal link by 26 October 2026. The grant is competitive, reviewed by an independent panel using a rating rubric. Eligibility requires the artist to be an active creator living or working in Ventura and prohibits receiving the award in consecutive cycles. No application fee is required. Funding may cover personnel, professional services, supplies, equipment rental, facility rental, marketing, accessibility services, permits, and other direct project expenses, but travel, lodging, and certain other costs are excluded. Support sessions are offered in‑person and virtually to assist applicants.
