About This Opportunity

Mita Pottery Studio offers a self-directed ceramic residency in the village of Rakkar, Himachal Pradesh, India. Residents have access to a fully equipped studio with a wheel, hand-building tables, a range of glazes and a kiln that fires up to 1320 °C. The stay includes a mud-house room and shared meals. The residency is open to potters, ceramic artists and makers in adjacent media who can work independently and have a practice in mind; beginners are not accepted. There is no formal application form or deadline – interested artists simply send a WhatsApp message with images of their work, a brief project description and preferred dates. The studio replies within a day to confirm suitability and agree on dates. No stipend, travel grant or exhibition is provided, and studio access is shared with ongoing classes. Residents can join workshops for an additional fee and can have work fired for a charge per kiln load. The length of stay is decided case-by-case, generally a minimum of one week, with longer stays possible when the calendar allows.
