About This Opportunity

The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds (BIF) offers travel grants to junior scientists – PhD students, MD students, post‑docs and pre‑PhD candidates – who wish to undertake short‑term experimental projects in basic biomedical research. Grants fund travel to and from the destination, lodging (e.g., student housing) and course fees for research‑oriented courses with at least 50 % practical work, or research visits of up to three months. Applications are submitted via the BIF online portal and must be filed no later than six weeks before the planned departure and not earlier than six months prior. The grant is a lump‑sum contribution; no living‑expense, visa or insurance costs are covered. Eligibility requires a current experimental project, European citizenship or residence in Europe, and a recent university entrance qualification (≤11 years for PhD/MD students, ≤13 years for post‑docs). The call is open on a rolling basis.
