Backus Ceramics Residency Programs

Backus Ceramics is a ceramics studio located in Canggu, Bali that runs immersive residency programs for artists of all levels. The studio provides a complete immersion into the ceramic process, from clay preparation and wheel throwing to glazing and kiln firing. Two residency lengths are offered: a 3‑week program and a 6‑week program, both with personal mentorship, full studio access, and assistance in finding accommodation in Bali. All materials, tools and kiln use are included. No prior experience is required, making the residencies open to beginners as well as more experienced makers. Applicants must pay the full fee when booking and the booking window is open until 6 February 2027. The residency can be booked through the studio’s online booking page, after which participants can contact the studio via WhatsApp for any adjustments. The program is conducted in English and takes place on site at the studio in Canggu, Indonesia.
