About This Opportunity

The Aviário Studio Intaglio Printmaking Residency 2026 aims to promote exploration and production in the printmaking field with a focus on intaglio techniques such as drypoint, etching, aquatint, soft‑ground, mezzotint, carborundum, collagraph, and solar plates. Artists are provided with a fully equipped workshop that includes cutting tables, paper and metal guillotines, multiple presses (Polymetaal, Reig, Krause), UV exposure units, light tables, a darkroom, and a range of auxiliary tools. The residency length is flexible, ranging from two weeks to four months, and can be undertaken individually or as a collaborative team. Residents receive a private bedroom in a shared house, access to a shared kitchen, and optional meals. Additional support includes dedicated studio technicians, technical assistance at €20 per hour, and opportunities to participate in public programming, open studios, artist talks, and workshops. While there is no application fee, artists must cover the residency fee (starting at €600 for two weeks) and any travel, material, and food expenses. The program is open to artists of any career stage worldwide, provided they are over 21 and can meet the financial responsibilities. Applications are submitted online via the studio’s website.
