Stomping Ground Call Out

The Place invites UK‑based artists who work with movement to apply for the 2027 Stomping Ground Call Out. The commission seeks a short solo or duet (up to 20 minutes) designed for primary‑school children (ages 5‑11) that can be performed outdoors in schools, festivals and other public spaces. Selected artists will receive a £20,000 commission, development support, and up to two weeks of in‑kind studio space at The Place. The work will tour for five weeks as part of The Playground Tour in June‑July 2027, with additional performance opportunities at partner festivals. Performers’ fees and touring costs are covered separately, and a minimum weekly fee of £660 is guaranteed. Applicants must have a proven track record of making and touring high‑quality work, be based in the UK, and not be currently in education (unless at PhD level). The piece should be ready to premiere in May 2027. Applications close on 3 September 2026 at 12:00 pm. The application form is a Google Form, with a Word‑document version of the questions also available. An online workshop on 5 August 2026 will provide guidance on creating work for children and outdoor settings.
