About This Opportunity

The Alberta Society of Artists (ASA) is seeking proposals for solo or small‑group exhibitions to be shown in its in‑house gallery spaces (Upper Mezzanine and Lower Gallery) and the Calgary Central Public Library during the 2027‑2028 exhibition cycle. All visual media are welcome, including installation, sculpture, video, photography, textile, painting, drawing and mixed media. Exhibitions in the ASA galleries typically run for two months; the library venue runs for one month. Spaces are wheelchair accessible and ASA will make reasonable accommodations for specific accessibility needs. Applicants must be Alberta‑resident artists, 18 years or older. Artists who have exhibited a solo or small‑group show at ASA must wait five or three years respectively before re‑applying. Membership status affects the submission fee: non‑members pay a standard CAD 50 fee (reduced or waived if cost is a barrier), while all members are exempt. The application requires a PDF containing an artist statement, exhibition outline, CV, and 5‑15 images, plus optional programming proposals. Selections are juried anonymously; selected artists receive exhibition space, potential artist‑talk programming, and an honorarium determined annually by the Provincial Council (not a fixed amount). Applications are submitted via the online form by the deadline of 30 September 2026 (11:59 pm MST).
