Apply for Grants, Bursaries and Support in African Arts

The African Arts Trust is a UK‑based charity dedicated to supporting the careers of emerging African artists. It provides core funding and project funding for visual arts organisations and individual projects, with grant sizes ranging from below $5,000 to $20,000. The Trust operates on a rolling basis, accepting applications throughout the year with no specific deadlines. Applicants must first complete a questionnaire to confirm eligibility, then submit a full application via email. Grants can be awarded for up to three years, with five years possible in exceptional circumstances. The Trust does not fund theatre, dance, music or literature projects. Funding is available for small to medium sized organisations and projects, and can support studio space, production costs, exhibitions, and other artistic activities.

Please do not apply if your project is not visual arts e.g. if you work in theatre, dance, music, literature. These art forms are not eligible for funding by the Trust.
