About This Opportunity

The Alpujarra Artist Residence, hosted by Casa 3 Polopos in the mountain village of Polopos (Granada, Spain), invites artists of any discipline to apply for a short‑term stay of 2 weeks to 2 months. Two artists are selected per edition and provided with private living quarters that include a bathroom, toilet, air‑conditioning and an outdoor space, as well as a dedicated studio space for their practice. Shared kitchen facilities, high‑speed fiber Wi‑Fi, heating, utilities and free parking are included. The residency fee is €150 per week (or €75 per week for a partner), and there is no application fee. Artists are responsible for their own travel, food, materials and insurance. While Spanish language skills are helpful for community interaction, they are not mandatory. Applications are accepted year‑round on a rolling basis; interested artists should submit a single A4 page (digital or physical) containing a brief personal introduction, artist statement, project goals, and a photo of themselves (and optionally a work sample). The program encourages work that resonates with the local community and offers the chance to engage with the village’s cultural heritage and natural landscape. The residence is reachable by car from Málaga, Almería or Granada airports, and artists are advised to have their own transport. Funding assistance for personal grants can be provided upon request for projects that benefit the village.
