About This Opportunity

AIR 3331 is an Artist in Residence (AIR) program run by Command A, an artist‑run initiative located in the Chiyoda district of Tokyo, Japan. The residency welcomes individual and group applicants from all artistic and research fields, with no restriction on medium or language. Participants are expected to be self‑funded, covering travel, living, facility, and production costs, while the program provides studio space, a community of resident artists, and support from coordinators in English or Japanese. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis; once a slot becomes available, the applicant is notified within a week, after which an agreement and invoice are issued. A participation fee must be paid (amount not disclosed) and cancellations are subject to a fee schedule. The residency period can be arranged flexibly, with typical stays ranging from a few weeks to a month. To apply, candidates download the application form, submit a CV, portfolio (minimum five items), and a project description via email.
