About This Opportunity

SAM Residencies is a museum-run programme at Singapore Art Museum committed to the development of innovative artistic and curatorial practices that respond to current global discourses. The programme features four residency types: Artist Residency (open to artists and collectives developing artistic practices), Community & Education Residency (for practitioners exploring art practice and gallery education or community engagement), Curatorial & Research Residency (for curators and researchers working on new modes of curatorial thinking), and EX-SITU: Art Spaces Residency (for art organisations based in Asia, including independent non-profit art organisations, artist-run spaces, and community-led initiatives). The studio-based residencies are open to those based in Singapore or internationally, and take place in physical spaces in Singapore. Each residency lasts between one and six months. The programme actively involves local communities and the public through diverse activities including open studio visits, talks and workshops. Applications are carried out every 18 months for the next residency cycle, with each cycle lasting 18 months. Cycle 4 applications are now open for 2027. Local and international practitioners across all disciplines of the arts over the age of 21 are welcomed to apply.
