The Studios at MASS MoCA, located in North Adams, Massachusetts, runs a year‑round residency program that supports up to ten artists at a time for stays of two to four weeks. The Early Application round, open twice per year (February 1 and August 1), allows artists to plan ahead for residencies scheduled between July 2027 and June 2028. Early applicants are not considered for the museum’s financial‑aid budget or fellowships and must be prepared to cover the full rate of $650 per week. A 50 % deposit is required six months before the residency start date, and the slot can be released without penalty up to that point. The program welcomes artists of any nationality, career stage, and age 18+, and groups may apply. Residents receive a private studio, private housing in shared apartments, one meal per day, and member access to MASS MoCA galleries. Additional resources include professional‑development webinars, a range of studio equipment (hydraulic press, printers, photo/video editing suite, printmaking and textile workspaces), and ADA‑compliant facilities. Applications are submitted free of charge via Submittable, and the next deadline is August 1, 2026. Successful applicants receive a formal invitation letter to support external grant applications.
