Residenza artistica "Swatch Art Peace Hotel"

The Swatch Art Peace Hotel Artist Residency Programme, based in Shanghai’s historic Bund district, provides international artists with a 3‑6 month stay in modern, furnished studios on the hotel’s 2nd and 3rd floors. Residents receive individual accommodation, a daily European breakfast, a private cupboard and fridge, access to a shared kitchen, lounge, coffee corner, library, meeting room, high‑speed internet, Mac/PC workstations and printing facilities. Housekeeping services clean the studios twice a week, and the hotel team offers local information, Swissnex contacts and assistance with visa applications. The programme covers round‑trip airfare, airport pick‑up, accommodation, housekeeping, breakfast and studio space, but does not provide a stipend; artists must cover personal and professional expenses. An application fee of 30 CHF is required, donated to Médecins Sans Frontières. Applications are submitted online in English after registering an account, and there is no fixed deadline – the call operates on a rolling basis. The selection committee reviews applications within a minimum of 12 weeks, looking for clear motivation, project relevance to Shanghai and the ability to leave a “trace” of the residency, which may be showcased in the virtual museum. The residency welcomes artists of any discipline, individual applicants or groups of up to two, and is open to artists worldwide.

Accommodation in furnished apartments and workshops, round‑trip flight or train ticket to Shanghai, visa assistance, housekeeping, daily breakfast, kitchen facilities, lounge and coffee corner, library, laundry, high‑speed internet, Mac/PC and printer/copier, visiting card, local information support, material procurement assistance, visa renewal support, invitation and completion letters.
