The Lucid Art Residency Program offers a 3-week solo residency in serene, retreat-like surroundings in Inverness, California. The program encourages nonrepresentational artmaking exploration through mixed-media, conceptual, ecological, and interdisciplinary approaches. The residency provides a house to live in, located in the center of the Foundation campus, with WiFi, a bedroom, living room, bathroom, wood burning stove, full kitchen, parking, laundry facilities, and linens. Artists have access to a studio called the 'Ark' (built in 1960, formerly used by Gordon Onslow Ford, John Anderson, and Fariba Bogzaran) with a wood-burning fireplace, sink, high ceilings with upper loft, wood walls, skylights, and a private deck. A print shop with a Sturges press is available for experienced printmakers (water-based media only). The Lucid Art Foundation will curate an online exhibition of residency artists. During the residency, artists meet with a Lucid Art professional artist associate for studio dialogue, participate in weekly tea and conversation with staff/artist associates/scholars, and receive a tour of Gordon Onslow Ford's studio. There is no stipend and meals are not provided. Artists must have a car for transportation. Application requires: artist statement (max 1,000 characters), short bio and exhibition history (max 1,000 characters), project description, answers to residency questions, three professional references, and work samples (10 images for visual artists, 2 audio files for musicians, 2 videos for new media/video/choreographers, or PDF for writers).
