The Soil Factory offers a residency program that began in November 2021, providing access to its land, studio spaces, and community programming in Ithaca, NY. Residencies are open to anyone interested in engaging with the community, including artists, scientists, musicians, ecological practitioners, and community organizers. Residents can work with local clay, participate in darkroom and cyanotype sessions, join sustainability‑focused mending circles, barter markets, and other craft events, as well as host film nights and child‑centered art explorations. Typical stays last 1–2 weeks, with an initial site‑visit followed by the possibility of an extended stay. Applications are made by contacting the organizers with a brief description of the applicant’s work and desired timeframe; there is no application fee and response times may be long.
