The City of Davis Civic Arts Advisory Board is seeking qualified individual artists or collaborative teams to respond to a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a public art commission at the newly renovated Community Park skate park. The project involves designing, fabricating, and installing a permanent mosaic artwork on a 23‑step concrete staircase that leads down to the skate park. The artwork must be created from ceramic, glass, or tile mosaic (or comparable media) and be durable enough to withstand outdoor conditions and heavy foot traffic. A budget of up to $28,000 is allocated to cover design, materials, fabrication, and installation costs. Applications are accepted through October 1, 2026. The selected artist(s) will receive the full project budget and the opportunity to contribute a permanent, highly visible piece of public art that will serve as a visual focal point for park visitors. The commission supports the City’s broader effort to activate and enhance community spaces through art.
