The Creative Communities Scheme (CCS) is a community arts fund administered by Wellington City Council on behalf of Creative New Zealand. Up to NZ$130,000 is allocated across two funding rounds each year to support local arts projects that meet one or more of the following criteria: participation – creating opportunities for community engagement with the arts; diversity – supporting diverse artistic and cultural traditions; and young people – enabling people under 18 to engage with the arts. Projects must take place within the Wellington city rate‑paying area and cannot already receive Creative New Zealand funding. Applications are submitted through the Wellington City Council Funding Portal; first‑time applicants must register. The 2026 round opens on 27 July 2026 and closes on 27 August 2026, with decisions announced on 7 October 2026.
