关于此机会

The Visual Residency in Prato, Italy is a collaborative program between Monash Art, Design & Architecture (MADA) and the Monash University Prato Campus (MUPC). Each year one established or emerging Australian visual artist is invited to spend three months (1 May – 31 July) in the historic city of Prato, working in a 40 m² studio located in the heritage‑listed Palazzo Vaj. The residency provides a return economy airfare, a $12,000 contribution toward travel, living, and production costs, and a serviced apartment (single or double occupancy) with the possibility of family accommodation. Artists also receive access to computer labs, printing facilities, and administrative support for artwork transport, as well as travel insurance and a budget for exhibition and public presentation expenses. The program encourages artists to engage with Monash students, deliver public talks, workshops, or exhibitions, and to collaborate with local cultural institutions such as the Luigi Pecci Centre for Contemporary Art and the Textile Museum. Eligibility is limited to Australian citizens or permanent residents with a documented record of professional practice; recent graduates (within three years) and current Monash staff or students are excluded. Applications are typically open in July and close in September for the following year's residency; the 2026 deadline is 21 September. The residency aims to deepen artistic research, foster international exchange, and provide exposure to European art, design, and architecture contexts.
