Ludlow Song are looking for young composers, aged 16 to 25 on 1 November 2026, who are facing financial barriers to their musical practice, to take part in a free, expenses‑paid workshop with leading composer and teacher Professor Julian Philips in November 2026. The one‑day workshop will be held at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire on Sunday 8 November 2026 and will focus on English song – music for voice with text in English. Selected participants will receive travel costs, accommodation where needed, and a per‑diem for the day, as well as access support for disabled or neuro‑divergent composers. In the six weeks prior to the workshop they will be asked to develop a new song or set of songs for voice and piano, which they will work on during the day with Professor Philips, an experienced singer and pianist, and fellow participants. The workshop will conclude with a free public performance and the possibility of a paid commission for the Ludlow English Song Weekend 2027. Applications are submitted via an online form by 12:00 noon on 28 August 2026.

Composers must be aged 16‑25 on 1 Nov 2026 and demonstrate financial barriers; under‑18 participants must be accompanied by an adult.
