The Kuona Trust Arts Centre, East Africa's most established contemporary art centre, invites artists for a 1–3 month international residency in Nairobi's Kilimani neighbourhood. Each year two artists are selected to work in well‑equipped studios, receive a stipend, travel allowance and housing (if they reside outside Nairobi), and engage with the local community through outreach, exhibitions and open‑studio events. The programme is open to emerging, mid‑career and senior artists from Kenya, the region and internationally; students may apply provided they are not actively enrolled during the residency period. Residents benefit from 24‑hour studio access, shared facilities (wood, blacksmith, printmaking, library), staff support, and participation in a group exhibition at the centre. The residency runs annually and is typically announced each year.
