Kinship Studio is a residency, retreat and workshop centre located in Cumberland, Maryland, USA. It welcomes photographers, writers and creative makers of all skill levels who wish to seed, incubate, launch or complete personal work or community projects. The Summer Matched‑Funds Residencies are non‑competitive and operate on a first‑come, first‑served basis; applicants submit a brief request form and a short phone or Zoom interview. Up to 50 % of the residency and studio costs are covered by grants and donations, with the remaining amount paid by the artist. Residency lengths range from one to four weeks, and artists may choose between self‑directed, guided or production‑focused programmes. Facilities include a darkroom, large‑format printer, digital print lab, mixed‑media collage and book studio, outdoor alternative‑process studio, private studios, dedicated technicians, shared kitchen, meals, and private bedroom in shared housing. A limited number of work‑exchange or full‑scholarship positions are available each year for artists with financial need. Applications remain open until all spaces are filled, with no fixed deadline. The programme is open to artists worldwide, any discipline and any career stage, and individual applicants only.
