art quarter Budapest (aqb) is an independent cultural institution housed in the former Haggenmacher Brewery in the Budafok district of Budapest. The International Artist‑in‑Residence programme, running since 2013, offers artists a fully furnished private studio, a room in a communal apartment, and access to the institution’s gallery, workshops, and a network of Hungarian curators and critics. Residencies last one to three months and are available throughout the year. Each resident receives a pop‑up solo exhibition and support in developing the project, including possible meetings, lectures, and exhibition mediation. The programme is fee‑based: €950 per month covers accommodation, studio space and institutional support; travel, food, insurance and art supplies are the artist’s responsibility. Applications require a CV, portfolio, project description and a statement explaining the relevance of Budapest to the work. The most recent deadline was 30 November 2025 for the 2026 cycle, with the next expected deadline on 30 November 2026 for the 2027 cycle.
