Southeast of Now: Directions in Contemporary and Modern Art in Asia welcomes original, unpublished scholarship for its issues published every March and October. The journal is open to scholars, artists, curators, and others across all disciplines. Accepted formats include short responses (1,200–2,000 words), articles (4,000–7,000 words), reviews (1,000–3,000 words), translations, and other formats upon discussion. Manuscripts are submitted via email to the editorial collective and undergo a double‑blind peer review. The general call is on a rolling basis with no fixed deadline. A special issue, "Art and its Ecopolitics in Southeast Asia", has specific deadlines: proposals and abstracts by 1 Nov 2025 and full manuscripts by 1 Mar 2026. The journal is published by NUS Press, National University of Singapore, with biannual print and online editions. Submission guidelines are available in the journal’s style sheet (PDF). No application fee or prize is offered; the primary resource is publication in a peer‑reviewed journal.
