Base Residency is an immersive, two‑week residency program located in Seattle’s Base arts space. Designed for movement‑based artists—including dancers, performance artists, and multidisciplinary practitioners—participants receive 24‑hour access to a 2,000‑sq‑ft rehearsal/performance space equipped with a kitchenette, private bathroom, professional lighting, sound systems, and a video projector. The residency includes an artist fee of $2,000, six hours of technical support from Base’s Technical Director, and marketing/documentation support featuring professional photography and videography. Participants also benefit from creative and professional development consultation, mentorship, and travel and lodging support for up to three artists (plus one collaborator each) from outside the greater Seattle area, along with local transportation assistance. Each residency culminates in an Entry Point—a public event that invites the community into the artist’s practice, which may take the form of talks, screenings, performances, or installations. Eligibility requires applicants to be able to receive income in the U.S., be based in the U.S. in 2027, apply as an individual or small collective, retain creative control and rights to their work, and commit to hosting a public‑facing Entry Point. The program strongly encourages intersectionally marginalized artists of all ages who identify as Disabled, BIPOC, LGBTQ2SIA+, and/or low‑income. Applications open on August 10, 2026, and close on September 13, 2026, 8 PM PT. Selected artists are notified by November 30, 2026, with residencies running from January to August 2027.
