Artpace San Antonio’s International Artist‑in‑Residence program invites three artists (one international, one national, one Texas‑based) to live and create new work in San Antonio for two months. The Texas Open Call serves as the primary resource for Texas‑based artists to be considered for the Texas residency slot. Applications are accepted from July 13 to August 24, 2026 (5:00 PM CST). Selected artists receive a furnished on‑site apartment, studio/exhibition space, a $6,000 living stipend, up to a $10,000 production budget, access to a van, fully equipped wood, metal, and digital media workshops, and full staff support. Travel expenses for preliminary studio visits and the residency are covered. The program culminates in an exhibition of the new work at Artpace. The call is open only to artists who have lived and worked in Texas for at least one year and excludes current Artpace staff, board members, their families, and current students.
