Kalanirvana International Art Residency
Sobre Esta Oportunidade
KIAR – Kalanirvana International Art Residency – is an independent, artist‑run residency based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. The program invites Indian and international artists from a wide range of disciplines – including fine art, photography, literature, textile, film making and new media – to spend between two weeks and six months creating, researching and engaging with the local culture. The residency is structured in two annual sessions: September 20 – December 31 2026 (application deadline September 5 2026) and January 5 – March 31 2027 (application deadline November 5 2026). Applicants are required to self‑fund their stay, with fees ranging from US $850 for 15 days to US $3 800 for three months, but KIAR covers a range of resources: private or shared accommodation, dedicated studio space, kitchen, common areas, rooftop, gallery environment, Wi‑Fi, local logistics, cultural tours and exhibition opportunities for residents who stay longer than 25 days. The residency also offers cultural immersion activities such as traditional art workshops, temple visits, festivals, yoga and community projects. Artists must submit a statement, portfolio, preferred dates and a project proposal. Selection is based on artistic quality, originality and willingness to engage with the community. KIAR aims to provide a safe, supportive environment for artists to create and connect with local families and artists, fostering cross‑cultural dialogue and professional development.
