Sobre Esta Oportunidade

The KIAR Textile India Residency, hosted by Kala Nirvana, is an immersive three‑month programme located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. It invites textile designers, fashion designers, textile and fibre artists, surface designers, weaving artists, costume designers, sustainable fashion practitioners, material and craft researchers, fashion students and contemporary artists working with textiles to explore the rich textile heritage of Odisha. Participants can engage with local weavers, artisans and cultural institutions, conduct research on traditional techniques such as ikat, bandha, natural dyeing, and silk weaving, and develop new collections, installations or research projects. The residency provides accommodation, studio space, airport pickup, Wi‑Fi, open kitchen access, cultural guidance, museum visits and the possibility of presenting work in an open studio or exhibition, subject to programme planning. A non‑refundable deposit of $300 USD is required after acceptance, with programme fees ranging from $850 USD for 15 days to $4,000 USD for up to three months; additional days are charged separately. International applicants may apply between 20 September 2026 and 10 April 2027, and are encouraged to submit a short bio, portfolio, statement of interest and project idea via the online Google Form. Selected residents receive a residency certificate and may be considered for partial fee support. The call recurs annually with a fixed application window.
