ZK/U Berlin, an artist‑led independent residency and project space, announces its OPEN CALL 2026 for a multidisciplinary residency program. The call is open to artists, researchers, activists and other practitioners whose work engages with urbanism, geography, anthropology, architecture or the humanities. Applicants are asked to submit a project proposal that may align with one of four narrative themes – Planetary Agencies, Speculative Futures, The Politics of Food, or Relational Urbanism – though proposals outside these themes are also welcome. The residency offers a studio space for working and living, access to communal facilities such as a kitchen, terrace and library, weekly dinners, studio visits, exhibition tours, and bi‑monthly open‑studio events. Residents receive promotion of their work online and locally, and support in locating events and resources relevant to their research. The program does not provide funding; participants must self‑organise financing, with residency fees ranging from €750 to €1,200 per month for stays of 2–6 months. Applications are accepted via an online form until 18 December 2026, with results announced by February 2027 and residency periods starting from March 2027 onward.

Visual artists and researchers from and currently based in Arabic-speaking countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestinian Territories, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. Artists with nationality from these countries currently staying in other MENA countries can also apply.
