لّسة / Not Yet / Still – Residência em Artes Visuais na ZK/U de Berlim

Berlin, Germany
ZK/U – Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik / Goethe-Institut
Frist: July 19, 2026

Über Diese Gelegenheit

The Goethe-Institutes in North Africa and the Middle East, in collaboration with ZK/U – Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik in Berlin, invite three visual artists or researchers from Arabic-speaking countries to explore the concept of liminality through a three-month residency in Berlin. The theme 'لّسة / Not Yet / Still' (lissa in Egyptian Arabic) evokes a threshold state shaped by uncertainty, transformation, and the possibility of multiple futures — being in between, not having arrived yet while no longer belonging to where you came from. Building on a first cycle (September 2025–February 2026) with seven participants, this new edition invites three additional artists to investigate what it means to inhabit spaces that are fluid rather than fixed, and to explore the creative potential of liminality in urban environments. Residents will have three months in the studios of ZK/U in Berlin (December 3, 2026 – February 28, 2027) with an extensive accompanying programme including mentoring, networking, peer-to-peer exchange, and access to ZK/U's events. The residency is realised in cooperation with and funded by the Goethe-Institut Cairo. Applications must be submitted via the awarding institution (ZK/U), not through Goethe-Institut Jordan.
