About This Opportunity

MoCA L.I.ghts 2026 – Antiquity to Innovation is a curated exhibition celebrating the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence and the technological innovations that have shaped artistic practice. Artists are invited to submit works that explore the evolution of traditional materials and their translation into digital media, including stop‑motion, claymation, hand‑drawn animation, rotoscoping, collage animation, experimental film, mixed‑media video, and other forms. The program features three sub‑calls:

• Art on the Marquee – site‑specific videos, GIFs, animations, and digitally created still works for display on the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts digital marquee. Submission deadline: August 30, 2026.
• Lights on MoCA L.I. – projection works for the facade of PAC • MoCA L.I. and other downtown locations. Submission deadline: August 30, 2026.
• Night Visions – pop‑up projected gallery screens throughout the Village of Patchogue. Event dates: October 22–26, 2026, 6:00–11:00 PM nightly.

Selected works will be displayed on the marquee, facades, and pop‑up galleries, with a live broadcast on social media. The call is open to all artists; no specific eligibility restrictions are listed. There is no application fee, and no prize or stipend is offered. The selection process is curated by the Patchogue Arts Council and MoCA L.I. The event runs in October 2026, with the exhibition opening on October 22 and closing on October 26.
