About This Opportunity

The Migration Museum, in partnership with Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, is recruiting two local Community Curators for a nine‑month freelance programme (September 2026 – May 2027). Curators will attend a weekly online training session (Tuesdays 11 am‑1 pm) and work four hours per week (2 hrs with Migration Museum, 1 hr on‑site at Baltic, 1 hr independent research). The role is paid at £20 per hour and includes curatorial skills training, mentorship from museum professionals, and the opportunity to produce a small display, workshop or event on migration, arts and culture to be shown at Baltic in Spring 2027. No prior curatorial experience is required, but applicants must live, study, volunteer or work in Gateshead or have a strong local connection. Applications close 23 August 2026, 23:59.
