Mary’s Place & Mercy Housing Burien Public Art Project – Call for Artists (RFQ)

Urban ArtWorks, together with Mary’s Place and Mercy Housing Northwest, is coordinating a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to create a pool of artists for a series of public‑art commissions on the upcoming Mary’s Place family shelter and affordable‑housing campus in Burien, Washington. The project will feature up to 16 locations across the campus, including interior and exterior murals, mounted panels, and site‑specific installations. Selected artists will be added to a pool that will be considered for commission opportunities anticipated from Fall 2026 through early 2027. The call is qualifications‑based; applicants submit portfolio images, a brief statement, and contact information—no concept proposals are required at this stage. The opportunity is open to emerging and established visual artists residing in the Puget Sound region, with particular encouragement for those who have ties to Burien, affordable‑housing or community‑centered practice, and artists from historically under‑represented communities. Applications are accepted via an online Google Form, and the deadline for submissions is July 27, 2026. No application fee is required. Successful artists may receive paid commissions, licensing fees, or purchase agreements for their work, providing both financial compensation and public exposure on a high‑visibility community campus.
