2027年度ヴァルナ・レジデンシャル・フェローシップ

Varuna Residential Fellowships give Australian writers (citizens or permanent residents) the opportunity to spend 2‑3 weeks in a private studio at Varuna, the National Writers' House in the Blue Mountains. Fellows receive one‑hour mentorship, all meals (including an evening meal prepared by the resident cook), and accommodation alongside up to six other writers. Residencies can be taken any time between September 2027 and September 2028, arranged directly with Varuna. Up to 50 fellowships are awarded each year, including 29 Flagship Fellowships that may provide longer stays, editorial support or additional travel funding. Application fees are AUD 70 (reduced to AUD 40 for healthcare‑card holders) with fee waivers available through the Varuna Equity Fund. Travel costs are generally the responsibility of the writer, though many Flagship Fellowships include a travel stipend and hardship assistance of up to AUD 350. Applications open on 2 March 2027 and close at 5 pm AEST on 13 April 2027. Eligibility excludes writers who have received a Varuna Residential Fellowship in the past three years. The program aims to support writers at various career stages across all genres, with specific flagship fellowships targeting particular identities, regions, and genres.
