The Pottery Workshop (PWS) in Jingdezhen is a multi‑faceted cultural institution that has been nurturing ceramic practice since 1985. The residency program invites artists, designers, and makers from around the world to immerse themselves in the world‑renowned porcelain traditions of Jingdezhen. Applicants are required to download and submit an application form after reviewing the program details on the PWS website. The residency is open to all levels, with no age or nationality restrictions, and encourages artists to bring their own projects while engaging with local artisans, glazes, and kilns.

Participants receive a semi‑private studio (24/7 access) equipped with electric wheels, kilns, slab rollers, glazing booths, and drying boxes. On‑site accommodation is provided in single or double bedrooms, and daily meals (lunch and dinner) are included. Bilingual coordinators offer translation services, project facilitation, and curated tours of local ceramic workshops and the Porcelain Sculpture Factory. The program is flexible in length, typically ranging from two to eight weeks, and is open on a rolling basis with no fixed application deadline.

The residency fee is 3,300 RMB per week for stays longer than two weeks (≈480 USD) and 3,800 RMB per week for shorter stays (≈560 USD). Applicants pay the fee directly to PWS; there is no separate application fee. The program does not provide travel support, but offers pickup service from train stations and the airport.

PWS emphasizes collaboration and community, allowing residents to work independently while sharing a vibrant environment of makers, technicians, and fellow artists.
