Elf School of the Arts, a nonprofit residency housed in a renovated historic elementary school beside the Appalachian Mountains and Lake Chatuge in Hayesville, North Carolina, invites artists to apply for its January‑March 2027 residency session. The program supports creators working in a wide range of disciplines, including book arts, drawing, jewelry, music, painting, paper arts, photography, printmaking, textiles, weaving, welding/forging, woodworking, writing, and many interdisciplinary practices. Residencies last from one week up to twelve weeks, with four artists hosted at a time. Each resident receives a private bedroom in a shared housing facility and a private studio equipped with extensive facilities such as metal shops, woodworking tools, darkroom, large format printer, and more. Housing and studio space are provided at no cost; however, travel expenses and consumable materials are not covered. The call is open to artists of any nationality, career stage, and age, with no specific eligibility restrictions beyond the listed mediums. Applications are accepted individually and must be submitted by September 30, 2026 via the Elf School of the Arts website. The residency is family‑friendly, ADA‑compliant, and offers dedicated technicians and equipment for various media. No stipend or travel support is provided.
