The Atticus Hotel Artist in Residency Program (AH/AIR) is a partnership between the Atticus Hotel and Linfield University’s Creative Writing Department. It invites college students from the university’s creative writing program to spend time in a supportive, inspiring environment while working on their own projects. Residents can choose from three residency lengths—an intensive four‑day stay, a one‑week residency, or an extended two‑week residency—within the overall window of November 15 through April 1. During their stay, writers receive a private room at the hotel, a daily meal credit at the on‑site restaurant Cypress, and access to hotel amenities such as complimentary espresso, a drawing room, a board room, and Dutch‑style bikes. Residents are also encouraged to contribute to the hotel’s cultural life by donating a published work, giving a reading, or leading a workshop. The program is open only to students enrolled in Linfield University’s Creative Writing Department and does not award residencies to the same artist in consecutive years. Applications are accepted in 2026, with the exact deadline to be announced; selected writers will be notified the week of November 1. The application requires a cover letter, resume, and a writing sample of up to 10 double‑spaced pages of prose or 5 single‑spaced pages of poetry, all combined into a single PDF.
