MusiCares, the charitable arm of The Recording Academy, offers an Emergency Financial Assistance Program that provides short‑term monetary relief to music‑industry professionals facing unexpected crises such as medical emergencies, loss of equipment, natural disasters, or other urgent living‑expense needs. Applicants contact MusiCares via phone or email, undergo a confidential intake and assessment, and, if approved, receive direct payments to service providers (e.g., landlords, medical providers, utilities). The program also connects recipients with mental‑health, addiction‑recovery, and preventive‑health services. There is no application fee and no fixed deadline; the program accepts requests on a rolling basis throughout the year. Eligibility requires a minimum of five years of industry employment (or six recorded credits), with a reduced three‑year threshold for designated disaster‑relief cases. The assistance is available to individuals working in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

Financial assistance for rent/mortgage, utilities, insurance premiums, medical and dental bills, equipment repair/replacement, funeral costs; mental health and addiction recovery support; disaster relief; preventive health services; financial wellness resources.

Open to U.S. and Puerto Rico music professionals with at least five years of industry employment or credits on at least six commercially released recordings (reduced to three years for designated disaster relief).
