この機会について

The William Flanagan Memorial Creative Persons Center, affectionately known as The Barn, is a converted horse stable located on a secluded knoll about two miles from Montauk, New York. Since its founding in 1962 by playwright Edward F. Albee, the Barn has provided a quiet, supportive environment for artists and writers to work. The 2027 Winter/Spring cycle is open to any creative person over 18, regardless of nationality, and includes students. The residency runs for whole calendar months only—no partial stays or overlapping four‑week blocks—allowing fellows to fully immerse themselves in their projects. Each residency houses four fellows, typically two visual artists and two writers, each with an en‑suite bedroom and a private studio, as well as shared amenities such as a library, eat‑in kitchen, and patio. The program is free to apply and to stay; there is no application fee. Domestic fellows receive a $2,500 stipend upon completion, while international fellows are reimbursed for expenses up to the same amount. Applicants must submit a CV, an artist’s statement, and the contact details of two professional referees. Visual artists provide 6–12 images and/or up to three media files; writers submit full manuscripts, poems, short stories, or essays as appropriate. The Barn’s selection process is based solely on talent and need. Applications are submitted online via the Reviewr platform, and the deadline for the 2027 cycle is September 14, 2026.
