La Macina di San Cresci, located in the restored 11th‑century Pieve di San Cresci in Greve in Chianti (FI), Italy, runs an open‑year‑round artist residency program. The residency welcomes artists from a broad range of disciplines—including visual arts, photography, film, video, new media, writing, poetry, dance, music, interdisciplinary projects, design and architecture—and is open to both emerging and established practitioners of any nationality. Applicants submit a completed application form (available in DOCX and PDF) together with a project proposal, CV, artist statement and work samples. The program operates on a rolling basis; applications are reviewed continuously and successful candidates are notified within 7–10 days. Residencies are self‑funded: artists pay a weekly fee (€550 for the first week, €380 for each additional week) and a €200 deposit, which is non‑refundable. In return, residents receive a private room, 24/7 studio access, utilities, internet, linen, towels, house‑cleaning, two mountain bikes, and the support of knowledgeable staff. Additional benefits include inclusion in the La Macina yearbook and website, and access to the historic complex’s facilities. Travel costs and living expenses are the responsibility of the artist, though the organization can provide recommendation letters and assistance in seeking external funding.
