Light Up The North (LUTN) launches ILLUMINE 2, an ambitious light‑art commissioning opportunity aimed at Black and People of Colour artists in the UK. The programme seeks a mid‑ to large‑scale light installation that will tour up to six LUTN member festivals across the North of England between October 2025 and February 2026, reaching over one million viewers. Applicants must be UK‑based, aged 18+, and have an established professional practice with a demonstrable portfolio. The commission provides an artist’s bursary of up to £8,000 (paid in three instalments) and a production/creative budget of up to £70,000, together with mentorship, technical support, and a potential residency at the IOU Creation Centre in Halifax. Reasonable travel, accommodation and subsistence costs are covered separately by LUTN, and transport of the artwork is provided by the participating festivals.
