At Laini Studio, clay is more than just material—it holds memory, nurtures collaboration, and sparks transformation. The residency merges technique with intention, tradition with innovation, turning ceramics into storytelling. Over four weeks, artists immerse in hands‑on studio practice, surface decoration, glazing, and firing, guided by experienced mentors. The program also offers cross‑cultural exchange through conversations, workshops, and collaboration with artists from diverse backgrounds, as well as personal and collective reflection space. Artists explore Kigali’s cultural landscape with site visits to local galleries and heritage spaces. The residency culminates in a public exhibition and community dialogue, showcasing the works created during the residency. The studio provides fully equipped ceramic workspaces, kilns, and guidance, and encourages a rhythm that fosters creative flow, reflection, and experimentation.
