The Hukwe Zawose Foundation’s Artist Residency Program invites musicians, composers, producers, sound artists, music researchers, and cultural practitioners to immerse themselves in the rich musical traditions of the Gogo people in Bagamoyo, Tanzania. The 2027 Musical Residency runs from January to April 2027 and offers three package options: a two‑week Intensive Musical Residency (USD 750), a two‑week Supported Musical Residency (USD 250), and a one‑month Zawose Village Immersion (USD 150). Each package includes accommodation, access to traditional instruments, studio time, and mentorship from Foundation musicians. Applicants must submit a short biography, portfolio links, preferred residency dates, package choice, and a proposed musical or research focus via email. The program is open to African and international artists with no age restriction. Travel, visa, and personal expenses are the responsibility of the applicant. The residency is currently open with no fixed application deadline, accepting applications on a rolling basis until places are filled.
