W. Eugene Smith Fund
この機会について
The Howard Chapnick Grant, established in 1996 by the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund, supports programs—not individual photographers—that make significant contributions to documentary photography through education, research, editing, and management. For 2026 the grant offers a total of $7,500 (disbursed as $6,000 up‑front and $1,500 after a final report) to fund a range of educational activities such as research, direct learning, publications, archives, exhibitions, online resources, and social‑media dissemination. Applications are accepted by email from 1 July 2026, with a submission deadline of 12 October 2026 (11:59 pm EDT). The grant is open to programs that have been operating for at least one year, worldwide, and individuals are ineligible. A $25 voluntary donation is requested as an application fee. The award does not cover the creation of photographs, which is supported by other Smith Fund grants. The jury, composed of three experienced documentary photography pioneers, selects a shortlist of five programs for final consideration.
