Brittle Paper’s The Writing Room is a free, online learning platform aimed at aspiring African writers. Participants can enrol in a series of five masterclass courses covering fiction fundamentals such as Theme, Setting, Plot, Language & Style, and Character Development. Each course is taught by established African literary figures, including Molara Wood, Eghosa Imasuen, Zukiswa Wanner, Ellah Wakatama OBE, and Chimeka Garricks. The program provides mentorship, exposure, and a certificate upon completion of all five courses. Applications are open to writers residing in Africa, and there is no entry fee. Interested writers apply through the Brittle Paper website, where they can also access additional resources, writing tips, and a curated list of publishing opportunities. The current round closes on 12 August 2026.
