Calgary Arts Development’s Art Bus 2027 RFQ is a public art commission that invites artists and artist collectives to submit qualifications for the opportunity to wrap the exterior of a public transit bus with new artwork. The buses will be in service for a minimum of 12 weeks between June and October 2027, with interior display opportunities for selected artists’ existing works. Up to seven artists or collectives will be chosen, each receiving a payment of $9,000 (not including GST) for one original design. The call is open to artists of all career stages and disciplines who live in Calgary/Mohkimsstsis, with residency requirements waived for First Nations, Métis and Inuit artists and collectives operating in the Treaty 7 region. Artists previously selected for Art Bus 2023‑2026 or Centre City Banners 2023‑2028 are ineligible. Applicants receive staff support, design templates, and bus tickets for research.
