Studio 88 Artist Residency in Chiang Mai, Thailand invites applications for its Summer Artist Residency 2026 programme. Spend two to four weeks creating, researching, and connecting as part of a vibrant international artist community. The residency is open to artists and creatives across all disciplines, including visual arts, performance and theatre, music and sound, film and photography, literature and creative writing, design and architecture, social practice, and interdisciplinary/experimental practices. Up to three fully funded residency places are available for Southeast Asian artists (residency fee waived), with additional partially funded spots for Southeast Asian and international artists. Partially funded artists pay reduced group or duo fee rates. The residency offers shared accommodation (private standalone bungalows with kitchen), shared studio workspace (including darkroom, ceramics studio, woodworking, and metalworking facilities), residency support, creative community, and opportunities to exchange ideas with fellow artists and engage with the public. Selection is on a rolling basis, with results communicated within two weeks of submission. Artists are responsible for their own travel and mobility costs. Exhibitions or workshops are optional and to be discussed with Studio 88. Applications require a statement of intent (500 words max), portfolio or examples of previous work, CV/bio, and preferred residency duration and dates. There is no application submission fee.
