City of Lost Angels II
Informazioni su Questa Opportunità
Funded by City of Lost Angels II # The Independent Artist Grant Every 200 sales of City Fidelia's project funds a $1,000 grant for a Canadian independent artist. This is one of those grants. Progress to the next grant 202 / 400 198 sales until the next $1,000 grant is awarded, live at a FRMULA workshop. Why this exists Most independent artists don't need a record deal. They need $1,000 at the right moment — to finish a single, shoot a video, or buy back time in the studio. This isn't a label budget. It's a community-funded boost. Every album sold gets us closer to the next grant. If that's you, apply below. If it's someone you know — tell them. The mechanics ## How it works STEP 01 ### Apply Fill out the form below. Takes about 15 minutes — open to Canadian independent artists. STEP 02 ### Reviewed & shortlisted A committee reviews every application and shortlists the ten strongest artists. STEP 03 ### You decide The final ten go to a public vote on City's Instagram. The community picks the winner — announced live at a FRMULA workshop. STEP 04 ### Use it The grant arrives within 30 days. You tell us what it funded. We share your work with the community. Who can apply ## Eligibility * You're 18 or older * You're an independent artist — no current major label deal (indie labels are fine) * You're making music actively: at least one release in the past 18 months, or a substantial body of unreleased work * You're willing to be featured in campaign content if selected * You're based in Canada and can receive payment by Interac e-Transfer You don't need to be in the FRMULA program. You don't need big numbers. We're looking for real Canadian artists at real moments in their journey. The application ## Apply Don't fill this out: Required Your legal name For payment processing only — kept private. Your artist name This is what we'll use publicly. Email address City and country where you're based Are you 18 or older? Yes No Link to your music Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, YouTube — wherever your work lives. In 50 words or less: who are you as an artist? This is the question that matters most. Voice over polish. 0 / 50 words If you received $1,000, exactly what would you use it for? Be specific. "Marketing" doesn't tell us anything. "Cover art and distribution for my next single, releasing in August" does. 0 / 100 words Why now? What's happening for you at this moment that makes this grant matter? This is where you tell us the story we won't see from your music alone. 0 / 150 words Optional Link to a music video or visual Helps us see your world, not just hear it. What's the next thing you're working to release? How did you hear about this grant? Anything else we should know? If selected, I'm willing to be featured in campaign content (a short interview, social post, or workshop appearance) and to share what I did with the grant funds. Submit application Free to apply. Open to Canadian independent artists. Applications carry forward to future cycles. Questions ## FAQ Who decides who gets the grant? Two stages. First, a committee reviews every application and shortlists the ten strongest. Then it's a people's choice — the final ten go to a public vote on City's Instagram, and the community picks the winner. How often are grants awarded? Every time the project crosses another 200 cumulative sales. The first grant is projected for October 2026. As the audience grows, the cycle accelerates. Can I apply more than once? Yes. If you weren't selected, your application carries forward to the next cycle automatically — and you can update it any time. Do I need to be in Canada? Yes — this grant is open to independent artists based in Canada. Payment is sent by Interac e-Transfer. Is this a loan? Do I owe anything? No. It's a grant. You don't pay anything back, and you don't owe royalties. The only ask is letting us share your story and what the funds went toward. What if my music is "weird" or doesn't fit a genre? Apply anyway. We're not running a genre filter. Can groups apply? What about artists with managers? Groups apply as the group — the $1,000 goes to the group and you sort the split. Managers, indie labels, distribution and sync deals are all fine. The only disqualifier is a current major label recording deal. Where does the money actually come from? From sales of City of Lost Angels II, sold directly on this site. When someone buys the project, they're funding this. The grant is the recurring promise made on that purchase. Don't make music? ## Fund the grants instead Every copy of City of Lost Angels II sold moves the counter. $35 digital. $60 with the tee. You're not just buying an album — you're putting the next grant one sale closer. Get the project →
