The Galley Beggar Press Short Story Prize 2026/27 is an annual international competition run by the independent publishing house Galley Beggar Press, based in Norwich, England. Open to both unpublished and published writers of any nationality, the prize seeks original short stories written in English, not exceeding 6,000 words. Submissions are accepted via the press’s online entry portal and require an entrance fee of £11 per entry; however, the press offers 200 fee‑free entries for low‑income writers. The competition closes on 8 November 2026 (midnight UK time). A panel of judges – Victoria Mackenzie, Gonzalo C. Garcia and Timna Fibert – will evaluate the entries.
