Shift Gallery, located in Seattle’s Pioneer Square art district, is an artist‑run space that supports practicing artists in the Pacific Northwest. The gallery is currently looking for a limited number of new members for its 2027 roster. Applicants are expected to be innovative, dynamic, and active artists or curators who can contribute to maintaining Shift as a vibrant and relevant art space. The call is open to Pacific Northwest artists and curators, with a particular emphasis on candidates from underrepresented groups, including people of color, Indigenous peoples, LGBTQ+ individuals, veterans, and people with disabilities.\n\nMembership is a one‑year contract that includes a half‑share of the gallery’s exhibition space for a one‑month period each year. Members can stage installations, performances, or collaborative events, and may also participate in group exhibitions and sales events such as pop‑up shows and the Seattle Art Fair. Members are expected to attend monthly meetings (currently held virtually) and to be available physically at various times throughout the year to support gallery operations. Art sales are transacted directly by the artist, with no commissions collected by Shift.\n\nThe application deadline is August 25, 2026, with notifications of acceptance in the fall and the first exhibition scheduled for January 2027. Applicants must be able to commit to the full year and to exhibit work by the start of 2027. The membership fee is approximately $125 per month, covering rent and operating expenses.
